Planning & Building Standards Working Group

The Planning & Building Standards Working Group, facilitates Industry engagement on key longer term policy topics, within the Planning and Building Standard environment. The group provides a 2-way discussion forum to consider policy changes, industry impacts and cross cutting issues. Often specific pieces of work will be commissioned to  engage industry practitioners, associations and stakeholders  in developing policies, where a cohesive collective voice is more advantageous.

Priorities

Building Standards – Preparing industry for the Oct 15 Energy Standards changes and developing an action plan, to follow up the recommendations made in the Sullivan Report on developing low carbon standards.

Planning – Developing work to align planning and road consents, to streamline the approval process, working with many interest groups and stakeholders across the industry.  Supporting activity to develop the Places Standard, to streamline and centralise design standards, around place making

Are you prepared ? – SAP/SBEM Workshop, Oct 15 Energy Standards

25 May 2015

CS in partnership with CSIC and Scottish Building Standards and in association with HFS & SPF organised two industry workshops on 27 & 28 August at Scottish Enterprise, Edinburgh. These discussed and raised awareness of the new Energy Standards that were implemented in October 15. There was a SAP workshop focused on domestic buildings and a separate workshop for SBEM focused on non-domestic buildings. This modelled building typologies live, with audience participation, so industry became better informed on the emerging construction specification’s to secure compliance and raising any concerns that could be fedback to SBSD.
