A note from the CSIC team on COVID-19
There is no doubt that these are extremely difficult times for society as a whole. Whilst resilient and flexible, the built environment sector and indeed all businesses globally face unprecedented challenges.
It’s times like these that need innovation and entrepreneurial thinking more than ever as businesses adapt to their changing circumstances and the CSIC team would like to reassure our customers, partners, stakeholders and the wider sector that the team at CSIC are on hand and ready to support you.
In addition, Scottish Enterprise has set up a general business support helpline for those seeking Coronavirus advice. You can contact them on 0300 303 0660 between 8.30am - 5.30pm, Mon - Fri).
What it means for our organisation is a change in the way we work during the coming weeks and months. Based on current government and health authority advice we have put in place necessary measures and initiatives. However, we are striving as much as possible to minimise disruption and to work around challenges in an innovative way.
The successful delivery of the collaborative projects we support is extremely important to you we know, so we are focusing on minimising disruption to their delivery as best we can. Our team of Innovation Managers are in close contact with project partners to coordinate this and we will be using digital and on-line technology extensively to allow us to continue to collaborate and work round most situations.
The Innovation Factory is now closed. This means that all factory, event and meeting bookings are cancelled until at least 30th April 2020. Our Events, Technical & Operations teams will be in touch to discuss re-scheduling activity and will of course keep everyone advised on future updates to these timescales.
Our staff are working from home and, like most responsible businesses, are no longer travelling, attending face-to-face meetings or events. Having the capability to work remotely has always been part of CSIC, so our whole team are well equipped to work from home and will be using our full suite of digital tools to ensure we are able to continue to work efficiently and collaboratively. Please excuse our pets, children and significant others who may make impromptu appearances in the background now and again, but rest assured we are used to working in different ways. Like everyone else, given this is likely to be the norm for many of us for some time, it will take a little getting used to!
Any face-to-face events hosted or organised by us or with partners, have now been cancelled until at least 30th April 2020. However, technology allows us to continue to deliver events and outreach and will be extremely important to continue to engage our networks and keep everyone connected. We are working on an online events programme and welcome all of our partners' input into these as they develop.
With the challenges we face impacting some aspects of our work, we are developing other ways we can practically support the industry during this time, including expanding programmes such as free to access e-learning and training modules.
We very much value the continued collaboration and support from all our networks across the sector and will endeavour to maximise positive opportunities to continue to collaborate with and support you. We also welcome any feedback so please do share your thoughts and ideas on how we can further support the sector during this time. You can contact us on 0141 212 5250 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
