Further infoThis project explored how Scotland's further education colleges and Innovation Centres can work together to increase business innovation and address the future skills needs of the Scottish workforce.
30 lecturers and 150 students from 13 colleges had the opportunity to work together in an innovative environment. They participated in masterclasses, expert lectures, demonstrations, hands-on learning opportunities and collaborative and interdisciplinary working all focused on SMART housing for an ageing population.
FUTUREquipped was funded by Scottish Funding Council and led by two of the eight Innovation Centres - ourselves and Digital Health & Care Institute (DHI) with contributions from DataLab, CENSIS and industry.
The project harnessed innovation from three traditionally unconnected sectors: health & care, construction and ICT and produced a series of micro-learning modules to allow colleges to continue to explore the interdisciplinary learning derived from this project.
