i-Con Supported Projects

We are currently supporting 6 new impactful innovation projects through our i-Con Challenge Fund.
The £125,000 investment aims to support the recovery of construction during the Covid-19 pandemic. The chosen projects all innovate in powerful ways to help build resilience.

The 3E’s project: Be Covid Smart
Developing COVID-19 digital learning scenarios to help Scottish construction return to work safely. Delivered by CICV Forum and Glasgow School of Art.

Remote Building Inspection Framework
Using VR to identify defects in buildings. Led by Sublime, Scottish Government Building Standards Division, Balfour Beatty, University of Strathclyde and Robert Gordon University.

Trial of Digital Proximity Sensing Solution
Trialling a digital proximity system in our Innovation Centre to ensure social distancing and improve building management. Led by CSIC and SiteCircle.

Trial of Digital Pass Solution
Trialling a digital pass system in our Innovation centre to improve building management and safety. Led by e-Com and CSIC.

Supporting Light-Gauge Steel Framing
Responding to COVID-19 through the light-gauge steel framing industry (CovSteel). Led by Newton Steel Frame and the University of Edinburgh.

The Economic Multiplier
Identifying construction's strongest investment areas to simulate growth. Led by CICV Forum, Federation of Master Builders, and Fraser of Allander Institute (FAI) - University of Strathclyde.
